How to Personalize Your Facebook URL

For those who don’t know yet, Facebook urls can now be personalized.  If you haven’t done this already, your address will look like the first one below.  By changing the address, you can make it look like the second one (with your name in place of blaise.dipersia).

To do this, all you have to do is change your Facebook username.  Here’s how to do that—

Step 1:

First, make sure you are logged in to Facebook.  After you are, go to www.facebook.com/username/.

Step 2:

Once there, you’ll see possible usernames for your account.  The page will look like the picture below.

You can choose one of the pre-selected names or choose one of your own.  If you pick one of the pre-selected names, you’ll click “Set Username.”  If you choose your own, you’ll be asked to “Check Availability.”

Keep in mind that Facebook has made it nearly impossible to change a username once it’s been selected.  Whatever username you pick will be the new url for your account.   You only get to choose one time, so make sure you like the one you pick.

Step 3:

Once you decide on a user name, click “Confirm” to claim your new url.  It will look like this — facebook.com/yourusername.
